OPJS University invites separate online applications for online entrance exams for admission to M.Phil programme and for admission to the Ph.D. programme (PET-2020) in various subjects as per the following schedule.

Eligibility & Exemption-

·         Masters Degree in the concerned/allied discipline with at least 55% marks. Those who have appeared in the final examination can apply provisionally.

·         Candidates who have qualified UGC/CSIR(JRF)/NET/SLET are exempted from the entrance test. But they must come for personal interview.

Entrance Exam Cum Registration Fee-

Payment will be accepted through Online mode only.

  2.  For M.Phil. Rs. 2000/-

 Modes of Ph.D. Programme-

 All the PhD programmes maybe offered as full time or part-time

 Full-Time Ph.D. Programme:

  •  Candidates under full-time mode are expected to do research work in the Campus and should be available during the working hours for curricular, co-curricular, and related activities.

 Part-Time Ph.D. Programme:

  • Any faculty member of the OPJS University possessing the minimum prescribed qualifications can apply in the prescribed form to work on a part-time basis for a Ph.D. degree.
  • Employees with a minimum of five years of experience in Government, Local Bodies, recognized Institutes, Public Sector Undertakings, Non-Governmental Organizations, provided the candidate has experience in the relevant field of research for at least three continuous years out of five years of service and published, at least, two papers in standard journals or reports/monologues/ book of equivalent standard or a patent registered, in the concerned subject/area of research.
  • For part-time Ph.D. candidates has to submit the No Objection Certificate (NOC) stating that he/she is permitted to pursue studies on a part-time basis, before submission.

Note: In case of candidates working outside the University area, a Co-guide duly recognized by the OPJS University may be permitted, if necessary, in addition to the University Guide / Supervisor on the recommendation of Doctoral Committee.

 How to Apply for Online Admission?

 Students can apply directly through online mode on the university official website. Candidates must follow the following Steps while applying online Application Form.

  • Visit University Website
  • Find the notification page
  • Click on the apply online for M.Phil & Ph.D. Entrance Exam Button.
  • Fill all required details in the columns.
  • After that upload a passport size photo (size not more than 200kb).
  • Re-check all the details filled in the application form and then click on the submit button.
  • Now Proceed to pay the entrance cum registration through the available mode of payment.

 Admission Procedure-

  • Admission is generally offered on the basis of an interview, which is supplemented by a written test if necessary. The Institute will invite a limited number of candidates for a written test and interview based on the academic
  • records, statement of purpose, etc. The final selection will be mainly based on academic credentials, written test, and/or interview.
  •  The written test is generally based on the topics related to general aptitude (logical reasoning, analytical and numerical ability, etc.), writing skills, and basic courses of various disciplines at the undergraduate level. The candidates
  • who do not qualify in the written test need not appear for the interview. The reserved category candidates will be given due relaxation in cutoff marks as per the norms.

 Entrance Exam Syllabus-

  • The entrance test will cover questions on general knowledge, aptitude and the concerned subject /discipline in which admission is sought.

 Interview-

  • Candidates who pass the Written Test and candidates who are exempted from the Written Test shall be required to appear for an interview to present/discuss their research proposal/area of interest.

 No. of Seats-

The University can increase / decrease the number of seats depending upon the availability of resources.

 General Information Related to Ph.D-Course-

  • The candidate can fill separate online application forms of the Entrance Test (PET-2020) for admission to M.Phil. Programme and Ph.D. Programme from the link available on University website strictly as per the schedule given above.
  • No offline forms will be accepted.
  • Every candidate is to ensure that he/she is eligible in all respect as per the eligibility conditions as mentioned above.
  • The candidate shall retain the printout of application form for future reference.
  • The online link for submitting PET application will be closed at midnight on 20th Sep 2020. No request will be entertained thereafter.
  •  Results will be declared online after 4 days from the examination.
  •  Candidates appearing for the final year/semester of the Master's Degree Programme, as the case may be, of the concerned subject shall be allowed to appear for the online PET 2020. However, the results of PET-2020 of such
  •  candidates shall be valid only if they become otherwise eligible for admission to a Ph.D. or M.Phil. Programme as the case may be.
  •  Fees once paid will not be refunded in any case.
  •  Candidates are advised to refer the University website www.opjsuniversity.edu.in for all types of information. No personal communication will be sent to candidates.
  •  PET will be an eligibility condition to apply for admission to a PhD and /or M.Phil. Programme. However, it shall not ensure such an admission for Ph.D./M.Phil. as the case may be.
  •  Revaluation and Photocopy facility for PET is not allowed and requests for the same will not be accepted.
  •  Every candidate will be required to remit the admission fee, the requisite term fee, the final thesis submission fee and laboratory/workshop fee as specified by the University.
  •  A student shall be required to earn prescribed minimum credits in the course work before he/ she starts research work and carry out his/her research work under the guidance of supervisor appointed by the university to guide the candidate.
  •  The minimum period of registration/ admission for the Ph.D. candidate shall be 36 months and maximum will be 72 months. After 72 months, the candidate has to re-register himself/herself for maximum 2 years after recommendation from Supervisor and approval from Vice-Chancellor of the University.
  • If a student/candidate withdraws from his Ph.D. programme his/her admission is terminated, his/her student/candidate status ceases. If such a candidate is readmitted within a period of five years he/she may be given weightage to the credits acquired during the previous registration on the recommendation of the Research Advisory Committee except in the case of termination on disciplinary grounds.
  • The award of the Ph.D. to an eligible candidate shall be made in accordance with the regulations of the University and UGC Guidelines for Ph.D. 2016.

 

 Ph. D Course Work guidelines

  • As per UGC Regulations 2016: Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of Ph.D. Degree, after admission in Ph.D. a research scholar shall be required to undertake course work for the minimum period of one semester. 
  • All candidates admitted to the Ph.D Programme shall be required to complete the course work prescribed by the Department during the initial one or two semesters. The women candidates may be allowed a relaxation of two terms/semesters in case of maternity.

  • However, if the student is not in a position to complete the course work in the prescribed time limit as above, due to genuine reasons, may file an appeal and on the recommendation of the RAC, the VC (Vice-Chancellor) may grant extension up to additional one semester. Failing to complete the course work in the extended period may lead to cancellation of admission.
  • Candidates already holding M.Phil Degree and admitted to the Ph.D. programme or those who have already completed the course work in M.Phil and have been permitted to proceed to the Ph.D. in integrated course, maybe exempted by the Department from the Ph.D. course work. All other candidates admitted to the Ph.D. programme shall be required to complete the Ph.D. course work prescribed by the Department.
  • 75% attendance for coursework classes in required.
  • Teaching work per credit is 12 hour/week. (This may include lectures, seminars, and tutorials).

 Fees Submission Schedule:

  • Examination Fee of 5000/- before appearing in Ph.D. Entrance Examination
  • Tuition Fee of Ist Year 40,000/- at Interview Time
  • Ist Year Pending Fee of 40,000/- before Course Work Examination,
  • Guide Fee and Synopsis Submission Fee of 30, 000/- fee before RDC,
  • 2nd Year Course Fee of 40,000/- (Starting of 2nd Year or 3rd Sem)
  • 2nd Year Course Fee of 40,000/- (Starting of 4th Sem)
  • 3rd Year Course Fee of 40,000/- (Starting of 3rd Year)
  • Thesis Submission Fee of 10,000/- (No Dues Certificate is Compulsory for Thesis Submission)

Examination and Accommodation fees of 8000/- at the time of Course work Examination

NOTE:- Penalty of 5000/- will be applicable if the candidate fails to clear the stage in prescribed time-estimation.

 

 Stage-wise Operating Procedure for Ph.D.-Programme

1. Intake Admission

  • Test on General Research Aptitude and Subject Competency after submitting the Examination Fees
  • Personal Interview After Qualifying Examination

2. Ph.D Registration

  • After qualifying the entrance test, Checking of Eligibility and document Verification
  • Submission of 1st year Course Fee after Document verification and accessing Eligibility of Registration

3. Course Work

  • One Semester Course Work including 90 hours of Mandatory Contact Hours (Minimum 75% Attendance Compulsory)
  • All Ph.D Candidates has to be appear in Ph.D-Course work Examination and has to score more than 60% marks failing which the course work will be repeated in next semester.

4. RDC or DRC (Research Degree Committee)

  • After successful completion of Course Work, Guide will be allotted to candidates.
  • Candidate has to appear for Presentation of Topic and Research Proposal within 12-24 weeks after Course work result compulsorily otherwise a penalty of 5000/- will be imposed on the candidate.
  • RDC presentation will be held in supervision of External Examiner (Subject Expert).
  • Finalization/Modification of the topic if any is to be submitted within 8 weeks of the date of RDC, otherwise candidate has to reappear in RDC by submitting the penalty of 5000/-
  • Evaluation of Modification of the topic will be held and the letter of RDC with final topic will be published and will be sent to the candidate as well as Guide/Supervisor.

5. Semester Wise Progress Report - I-II

  • After topic approval from RDC, Candidate has to present his work within 12-24 weeks of date of finalization of the topic. This presentation will be internal and will be held in front of the University subject expert and Guide.
  • Note: Candidate must report his/her progress of research with some results to the Research Advisory Committee. The student will earn more credits if he/she publishes a research paper (Research Scholar as 1st Author) based on is/her research work in any National/International Journal or presents the paper in any National/International Conference.

6. Semester Wise Progress Report - III-IV

  • After Completion of research work, the candidate has to present his/her work in front of External Examiner (Subject Expert) and has to defend his work.
  • This pre-thesis presentation must be held in between 36-48 weeks of finalization of the topic.

7. Pre-thesis Submission

  • Candidate has to submit his/her the complete thesis in Examination cell with Plagiarism report in spiral binding (2 hard copies) and 2 CDs/DVDs (soft copies).
  • Research Advisory Committee will also, check the plagiarism before sending it to evaluators.

8. Final Viva

  • After getting evaluation of thesis and correction/Modification if any, the final date of Viva/Defence will be notified to the candidate as well as one of the thesis evaluator as External Examiner.
  • Candidate has to submit his/her thesis in hardbound (6 copies) to Examination cell on or before the date of final defense.
